Journey to China: An Anthology of Love Poems by Nina Kedar is a thematic collection of love poems set against the exotic locale of China. The poems are based on the feelings of two lovers, their love, loss and discoveries in their journey of love. The poems take readers through the different layers and dimensions of love, giving it different shades, meanings and perspective. The backdrop of China, its spiritual vibes and culture run through the poems, making it an ingenious collection. The collection is straight forward and uses simple language and imagery to convey a lot of emotions and feelings.
All the poems are good and the poet combines charm, insight and poetic expressiveness into the writing. The journey and the discoveries of the two lovers are relatable. One gets a sense of peace while reading as the poet takes us through the feelings of admiration, love, loss, reunion and spirit effectively. The poems are very visual with some beautiful images on love and life. The rush of images and moments strewn together in the poems make it a memorable read. Love and commitment always have a way of including pain and the poems about loss border on these emotions. The poems are lyrical and the poet has also blended the themes of nature and emotion together in many poems for a greater effect. Certain poems are haunting and the images and emotions linger long within the minds of readers.
