Monstrosity: Apartment Complex on Deadman Lane (Episodes 13–16) by KJ Walt throws Yoska Draper straight back into the madness of running a building that never gives him a moment’s peace. Paranormal trouble is rising fast, and the stairwell ghosts are causing havoc again, this time dragging a rocker client into a haunting that explodes into violence. Ryder is dealing with an old enemy who won’t stay buried, devil monkeys are attacking residents, and traffickers are circling the area, pulling the whole misfit family into danger. Magic goes wrong more than once, baby Arie disappears during a spell, and even the beak dragons turn out to be more complicated than anyone expected. With darkness swirling through the building and a fae threat growing stronger, Yoska finds himself facing problems from every direction as he tries to keep his chaotic home from falling apart.

Monstrosity by KJ Walt keeps the same loud, brash, hilarious energy as the earlier episodes, with even more chaos thrown into the mix. The pacing is rapid-fire, each episode packed with action, paranormal trouble, and the kind of drama that only this misfit family can attract. The humor is constant, even in the darker moments, and the story never slows down as one problem rolls straight into the next. The characters remain the driving force, every one of them vivid, unpredictable, and bringing their own brand of madness to the narrative, whether it’s stairwell ghosts, devil monkeys, or magic misfiring in ways nobody expects. The episodic format works perfectly here, each installment feeling like a TV episode that gives you just enough to satisfy you before throwing you into the next round of trouble. It’s gritty, funny, chaotic, and full of heart, with the found-family dynamic growing stronger as the danger escalates. If you enjoy stories where the normal and the supernatural collide in the most outrageous ways, this set of episodes delivers exactly that and keeps the momentum of the series going without missing a beat.

Essien Asian

Yoska may have mastered his role as landlord to an odd bunch, but he takes his involvement with his tenants one step further with a new addition to his growing family. While he focuses on maintaining harmony within the collective as he watches Essie and the other young ones grow into their gifts and solve cases, a disturbing new trend emerges. The ghosts are behaving abnormally, and animals they hunt down have become even more unruly. These new details point to a disturbing possibility: there may be more at play than the family man can handle. Find out how he resolved this mystery in Monstrosity: Apartment Complex on Deadman Lane Episodes 13-16 by KJ Walt.

KJ Walt maintains the familiar by sticking with the two key ingredients that make the Monstrosity series such a big hit: a detailed list of the occupants of each apartment and their nicknames, and the unique serialized delivery that makes this book easy for readers to follow either as a standalone or as part of the larger collection. The dialogue mimics the kind of regular conversation you'd expect in an apartment block, highlighted by the hilariously tall tales that Yoska's friends exchange. Walt goes all out on the paranormal angle, with werewolves and ghosts making a comeback, but what stands out is the attention to detail in the animals Yoska's wards come up against. The author blends classic creatures with features that could only come from a formidable imagination, with wonders such as beak dragons and devil monkeys. Factor in a rapid pace and the comical fight sequences, and you have a one-of-a-kind book that action, drama, and mystery enthusiasts will fall in love with. I really enjoyed reading Monstrosity.

Monstrosity: Apartment Complex on Deadman Lane Episodes 13-16 by KJ Walt follows Yoska Draper, the guardian troll of an apartment complex full of shifters, ghosts, and other paranormal misfits he thinks of as family. Life is already chaotic with a new baby, a mountain lion shifter chasing his neighbor around the yard, and ghosts causing trouble for one of his tenants. However, things take a dangerous turn when a dark, unidentified entity starts creeping into their territory. Old enemies are resurfacing, a reaper is making unwelcome visits, a magic mishap leaves baby Arie missing, and a fight pushes one of the residents past her limit. Yoska and his found family have to pull together before this new darkness tears their whole world apart.

Author KJ Walt did an incredible job with the latest episodes. I haven’t had this much fun reading a series in a long time. This series is exactly the kind of chaotic read I didn't know I needed. The found family theme goes perfectly with the plot. Every character feels like they genuinely belong together. I loved how Walt gives even the side characters like Knuckles and MaryJo their own funny little moments. Yoska is such a great protagonist. He is the anchor of the story as a guy who is struggling with fatherhood and guardian duties while everything around him goes to hell. I loved little Arie, and I adored how Yoska loved his little girl. The humor is incredible. Some scenes had me laughing out loud, especially the antics with Jethro the mountain lion. If you love a paranormal novel that is funny and has a horde of fantastic characters, the Monstrosity series is for you!
