In a galaxy far away, Tempus spins on its` axis and good and evil are at war;isn`t that the way of any world ,real or imagined. The king quietly gathers a rag-tag team to fight the evil Lord Vlad and his army of demons, orcs, giants, dark elves and giant wolves. The team-a human woman,2 half-elves,a dwarf, a gnome,a wizard of unknown origin,an elven ranger and a young elf and his wife must find the Duaredheim Staff,  a staff of supreme power before Lord Vlad finds it.

Erik O` Brien is a superb writer with extremely detailed characterization. The first 100 pages were confusing to me. I felt overwhelmed by the many characters introduced so quickly. After that, the story centers on "the good team" and the duel,of sorts, against "the bad team". The action is fast and thrilling in this page-turner fantasy. I hungrily anticipate reading the sequel ,"the Drums of Doom". If you liked "Lord of thr Rings", you`ll like "Kur`s Rage". Go out and grab a copy today!

Great story, O'brien has brought a diverse cast of characters together in a compelling story. The action is fast and furious from the begining and his use of fantasy archtypes leaves you wanting to see what will be next around the corner. The book is an engaging read and I eagerly await his next effort and my chance to play the "Drums of doom". This book has found a permanent place on my shelves.

"Kur's Rage" is an action packed adventure fantasy that draws you in immediately with its first words. It starts in the midst of battle against an overwhelming foe. From there the companions who fought so valiantly together are drawn into an even greater mission. What first started out as a scouting mission turns into something far more.

I was sitting on the edge of my seat at times and laughing out loud in other parts. It blends the gravity of the quest with clever banter and humor. I could empathize with each character's personal struggle and I was emotionally tied into the story as a result.

The villain is excellent. I admire his determination and drive as he seeks ultimate power. He possesses an excellent mind for strategy. He is not cruel insomuch as he is one who knows what he wants and very little will stop him from achieving his goals, except perhaps our heroes. I enjoyed reading about him tremendously.

My only critique is that the author needs to make sure that the reader knows when points of view are shifting. I was able to keep up with the changes no problem, but other readers may find it confusing at times.

Other than that, it was an excellent read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be reading the second book of the series, "Drums of Doom". I am eager to read what happens next.

This book is exciting from the very first page. The details are so explicit and the plot so exciting. If you are into fantasy adventure, this is the book for you.

Fiction fans will greatly enjoy what this book offers. Great characters, well paced. The perfect book for the beach. I have been waiting for a book like this for a long time. A perfect mix of action and mystery with a complex and wicked villan. A touch of sci-fi is like spice for the soup. I anxiously await " The Drums of Doom " and have recommended " Kur's Rage " to all my friends here in Germany. Keep writing, I'll be waiting!

Matt R. Whittaker

Fast paced, action fantasy novel. Good character development and I like the parallels. I would compare to some Robert E Howard novels. I am reminded of Howard's Cormac hero. Just solid, great stuff.
