Author Biography

With eastern European blood on her father's side and English on her mother's, Vicki blames her ancestors for the lethal combination in her genes that influence her stories. Many of her books bear the character names of her ancestors or are dedicated to their memory, as these individuals lived in the Regency and Victorian eras. The author believes this is a beautiful way to memorialize their lives in periods in which she pens her stories.

Vicki resides in the beautiful, but rainy, Pacific Northwest with a pesky cat who refuses to let her sleep in. Her hobbies include researching her English ancestry (actually it's an obsession), traveling to England to visit dead relatives, meeting newly discovered distant cousins, and plotting her next book. She also an award-winning author, writing under the pen name of J. D. Burrows (Women's Fiction).

Spirited, spunky, and jaded, Jane didn’t begin breaking men’s hearts for pleasure for no good reason. In fact, there had once been a time when she actually believed in true love. Although many years have passed since her romantic, tender heart was shattered by her very first love - war hero, Colonel Matthew Rutland - it still burns and festers inside her, causing her little empathy for the string of broken hearts behind her. Matthew had no idea what damage he’d caused by simply leaving for the military and moving on with his life. When he suddenly arrives back home, both their lives are unpredictably turned upside down. Will Matthew be the one to restore Jane’s heart to the romantic, tender one it had once been? Or will time repeat itself and leave Lady Jane Cavanaugh with a hole in her heart forever?

Lady Jane: Ladies of Disgrace by Vicki Hopkins is a historical romance novel about admitted heartbreaker, Jane Cavanaugh. Lady Jane is an easy-flowing, enjoyable, fun read I’d recommend to anyone who loves a short and sweet romance. Things move pretty quickly and I loved that it didn’t drag on unnecessarily as some books do. The characters are original, colorful, and sassy. The romantic scenes are top-notch. I actually read it in one night because I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what happened next! I’ll definitely read more from Vicki Hopkins and I give the story, and the writing itself a well-deserved five stars. Awesome book.
