Lady of the Sea (The Aureate Chronicles, Book One) by Heather Zwygart is a stunning fantasy novel about an orphaned mermaid named Avelessa. She needs to find a pearl called Sol Fyre in order to save the mermaids. But doing so isn't easy. She has to become human, as the pearl was last on land. Avelessa had always been taught that humans were her enemy, but when she becomes human, she meets two boys, Kai and Ethan, and is stunned by their kindness. She starts learning that what she was always taught might be wrong. But the village Kai and Ethan live in is plagued by deaths, and she is blamed for them. However, that isn't the only problem she faces. She is suddenly attacked by the ael, the beings behind the deaths, and she still needs to find Sol Fyre. Can Avelessa do it?
Lady of the Sea by Heather Zwygart is amazing. It is unfailingly intriguing and exciting. I never wanted to put it down. I can't wait to read Book Two! Lady of the Sea is thrilling, with a lot of suspense and action. The characters were well developed and well described, as well as being likeable and relatable. Many people have to make tough decisions, just like Avelessa, or have moved to a different place, like Ethan. It has a lot of scary parts that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Lady of the Sea was amazingly written, and I liked how Avelessa had a lot flashbacks that help readers to understand her past more. Heather Zwygart is a really good author. Lady of the Sea had many funny parts. I would recommend this book. You should definitely read Lady of the Sea.
