Larry Gets Lost at the North Pole by Mike Mullin is a children’s picture book and is part of the Larry Gets Lost series. It’s a story about a dog named Larry who enjoys time with his human buddy Pete. He especially enjoys their fun winter activities together. One day, he joins his human family at a Christmas festival. Larry is enjoying all the excitement when he sees a cookie fall out of a lady's purse and land next to a strange-looking vehicle without wheels. He climbs inside and bumps a wooden stick that makes this vehicle go high up in the sky. It takes him to a magical and fun place where Larry’s curiosity leads him to explore. He goes from door to door, discovering a control center where elves observe a storm brewing. He also sees a library of Christmas stories, a Christmas tree forest, and so much more. Larry finds a sleigh garage where the elves are getting Santa’s new high-tech sleigh and his reindeer hitched. But they encounter one problem after another, and worry they will miss Christmas and not get presents delivered in time. Will Larry be able to help and make it back home to Pete?

Mike Mullin has written such a delightful and fun story about Christmas and a cute pup who accidentally ends up in the North Pole. It is a story of hope and encouragement that all young readers will be able to relate to. The colorful illustrations by John Skewes further enhance the story and bring it to life. Readers get to see the elves working happily to build a state-of-the-art sleigh for Santa, while other elves work diligently to keep their eyes on the storm that is threatening Christmas. Some mishaps happen along the way, just like real-world ones that readers are able to relate to. Readers who love similar stories like P.J. Bear Saves Christmas by Eleanor Housworth or Lefty Saves Christmas by Julie Ann Strickland will definitely enjoy Larry Gets Lost at the North Pole.
