Little Warriors, Big Lives by Esther Valbrun Fausett, and illustrated by Mousam Banerjee, is an emotionally stirring children’s picture book about the courageous fight between young children and life-threatening illnesses. Each poem is filled with the elixir of strength, hope, and support. Fausett shows her ability to use words that touch the heart in a way that other children’s picture books don't. She tackles the parts of life that others are afraid to take on. She does it so inspiringly that no doubt others will be able to follow in her footsteps. Using her own family’s experience with life-threatening illness, she delivers a collection that will motivate not only those living with illness but the support system around them as well.
Esther Valbrun Fausett and illustrator Mousam Banerjee’s Little Warriors, Big Lives present beautiful renditions of those little warriors who are fighting the hardest fight of their lives. The illustrations are joyful and show courageous moments of sailing into the unknown. Mousam Banerjee captures exuberant events in the hospital as well as in outdoor environments, creating worlds that feel real. The color selection has a soothing quality, especially with the green and blue hues, which have a therapeutic effect. This book would be an advantage in children's hospitals all over the world, as well as in the homes of those who are suffering from illness.
