Author Biography

After his mother died of a heart attack playing tennis with him on his twenty-third birthday, Alderin Ordell began to experience strange dreams and the feeling of her ghost around him. Alderin soon joined the Berkeley Psychic Institute for an intensive two-year clairvoyant training. His experiences reading others there inspired him to write "Love Beyond Death," a combination of his understanding of the afterlife and experiences with love as a queer man.

He also heavily researched "Love Beyond Death" to give the story context and historical significance. The result is a haunting love story that takes place during some of the most significant moments of LGBTQ history.

Alderin also used his clairvoyant abilities to look deeply into the racism of our country and wrote "While White Men Sleep."

Alderin currently lives in Portland, Oregon with his partner. Together they pursue a vegan diet, advocate for animal rights, play football and softball, and volunteer in their community.

All Jaime and Dustin wanted was to live in peace and be able to love each other; however, that seemed too tall an order in Love Beyond Death by Alderin Ordell. Dustin finally loses his cool after seeing his beloved come home battered and bruised once more, but things take a turn for the worse. Now Dustin, Jaime, and even Officer Leon must embark on a spiritual journey that has them being reincarnated decades later. Can they overcome past transgressions and resolve the karma from their past lives?

Love Beyond Death by Alderin Ordell is a beautiful yet tragic story that touches on the emotional and spiritual journey to forgiving those who have wronged you and finding peace. Seeing first-hand the discrimination the main characters endure, along with the violence, broke my heart, and I could sympathize with their struggles throughout the book. Ordell did an amazing job with the storytelling, the characters, and the entire concept of the afterlife. I enjoyed seeing the characters' progress from one life to the next and how this affected them. It allowed for so much growth within the characters and, therefore, the story. I will say that although Officer Leon wasn’t my favorite character, I enjoyed seeing how his actions affected him and how he chose to correct his past mistakes. I believe in second chances, and this book is all about that. Love Beyond Death was a beautiful book, and I hope many others will give this a try.
