Magic Moon: Sister's Turn is a heartwarming picture book written by Shirley Moulton, with illustrations by Marilyn Whitchurch. The story follows a little girl and her brother, who is sad because he misses his friend who has gone away. He tries to make a new friend at school, which brings him happiness for a brief moment. However, on their way home, he still has a sad expression. Noticing this, his little sister decides to help him find joy again. She embarks on a brave mountain climb to seek guidance from the mystical Magic Moon, known for granting wishes. Determined to help her brother, she faces the cold weather and confronts a powerful being, who advises her to bring her brother along on her next visit. Will the little girl’s wish to see her brother happy again come true?

Magic Moon: Sister’s Turn is the second book in the Magic Moon series by Shirley Moulton. In the first volume, the brother helps his little sister find her favorite toy, and in this volume, she returns the favor. This story teaches children about compassion and courage. While the little girl initially just wants to see her brother happy, she learns valuable lessons about grief, patience, and the importance of supporting a loved one during difficult times. The narration is engaging, using simple language that children can easily understand and read, which helps improve their reading skills. The illustrations beautifully complement the storytelling, depicting the natural environment, including lush forests and snow-covered mountains, immersing readers in the setting and bringing the narrative to life. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend adding it to your children’s reading list to teach them about selflessness and unconditional love.
