Man from the Sky by Danny Wynn begins with seventy-three-year-old Jaime. Jaime has led a life of privilege and solitude. His home is located on a Mediterranean island frequented by the rich and famous; a carefree place where the year-round locals live a Bohemian lifestyle. Amid his enviable and beautiful surroundings, Jaime remains dissatisfied with life. Racked by the discomforts of progressing Parkinson’s disease and feeling his life nearing the end, Jaime wonders could he have done more. Could he have made a difference in the world or in someone else’s life? A man abruptly falls from the sky, giving Jaime the chance to step up and fulfill his need to make a difference in someone’s life. When Stefan meets Jaime, he is hanging on by a thin thread and running for his life. While struggling through a mid-life crisis, Stefan has nowhere to turn. On the mountaintop, he meets a savior and a true friend. Jaime introduces Stefan to his friends, Elena and Antonio. Elena becomes Stefan’s lover. She has led an intriguing, well-traveled life but questions her ambition. Antonio is outwardly friendly and jovial. Inwardly, he compares his life to the rich patrons he serves and looks for a way out of his meager existence.

Mr. Wynn gives us a peek into the hearts of his fascinating characters. Each one craves more from life. Jaime searches for meaning as he reaches the end of his life. Stefan seeks acceptance and stability. Elena wants reassurance and peace of mind. Antonio strives for a better lifestyle. This novella is one of those special stories that will linger in my mind for a long time. I savored the splendor of this rich, enjoyable and poetic story. Man from the Sky is a quick read packed with anticipation and majestic imagery.
