Since she was a child, Lucy has always been tall. As a result, children criticized her, which affected her self-esteem. So her mother consoled her by telling her that God had given her that quality for a special reason. In high school, she joined the basketball team, but she didn't know how to play. When the coach noticed her difficulties, he encouraged her to use her advantage and develop her skills in the sport. Eventually, Lucy gained confidence and found her way into an activity she truly loved. The journey was not easy, but she had the character and cooperative spirit to thrive as a team player. Doors opened for her at the university that she never would have imagined. She participated in local and national competitions and even competed in the Olympics. Rena Newson Lott's Meet Lusia (Lucy) Harris-Stewart tells her story in detail.

Meet Lusia (Lucy) Harris-Stewart is a wonderful biography. I liked how Rena Newson Lott describes details of the era because it makes you feel like you are right there. She explains what it was like where Lucy grew up, her family, influences, and the differences from today. The narration feels close and allows you to connect with Lucy, her dreams, and her efforts. It shows us that you don't always win, but if we learn from our defeats, we can be prepared for whatever comes our way. The descriptions of the games are energetic, and you get a sense of the excitement of the events. I loved the photographs because they show crucial moments in history. I loved reading about Lucy. Off the court, she was also an admirable person who showed her humility by acknowledging the guidance and support of her coaches. This is the inspiring story of a pioneering elite athlete recognized in multiple halls of fame for her legacy in the sport.
