Meeting Aggie by Marmelibee is about Agatha (Aggie) Youngblood, who is not an ordinary university student. She’s not even human, though her magic skills can camouflage to make her appear just as human as the others. Most of the other students are something else, too. Aggie is a mixture of all kinds of magic—fairie, angel, mermaid, and the witch magic she inherited from her father. She’s the firstborn of an empress, hidden away to protect her mother. But, with the impending death of the empress, the secret is about to come out because, as the firstborn (even illegitimate), Aggie must inherit the throne. It’s her destiny. Her younger half-brother, Sven, is out for her blood to pass the power to him. He doesn’t realize how powerful his older sister is. And he doesn’t know she has the Greek god Apollo at her side. It’s a battle for power—who will win?

Marmelibee’s Meeting Aggie has everything a young adult fantasy lover would expect in a thrilling adventure—mostly lots of magic and a quirky, smart, likable main character. The plot is intense as the author uses Aggie’s voice to tell the story. It reads like a teen’s journal, with smart-alec commentaries and a quick-to-judge attitude. Her sidekick, the Greek god Apollo, is equally likable, and the two make a formidable team full of magic as they prepare to face the ultimate enemy. The dialogue is well-used and believable, helping move the story and developing the characters. The story is a thrilling fantasy adventure for late teens and older.
