Mimsy the Michigan Mitten Mouse: Mimsy Goes to School (Volume 1) by Cindi Walton is the charming story of Mimsy and her adventures which will enthrall kids. Mimsy's world changes when she is rescued from her local resale shop by Jenna, the third grade teacher at Kingsley Elementary School. At Jenna's place, Mimsy has to share the space with Tessa the hamster. A little boy called Gavin thinks Mimsy is dumb. The story tells kids about how Mimsy learns to adjust to her new life and learns the rules of kindness and respecting everyone and each other.
Children's books with a message is the best way to teach them new concepts, ideals and life lessons. Children need to read books like this to change their thinking and behavior. This book is fulfilling and I would suggest all school libraries keep a copy. It is perfect for read aloud sessions in classrooms and libraries. Parents and grandparents can also use it as a bedtime story book. Mimsy's adventures are amazing and parents and kids can relate well to the story. There are many lessons learned and many messages taught by the author, which are useful to kids. The pictures are beautiful and they complement the story very well. The way of presenting each chapter is novel and innovative. The messages and rules taught through Mimsy are very subtly conveyed.
