Misguided Revenge is a work of fiction in the paranormal, thriller, action, and suspense subgenres. It is best suited to the adult reading audience and was penned by author D M Bourgeois. In this chilling work of eerie thrills and ever-deepening mystery, we find ourselves at a creepy cemetery in Lafitte, Louisiana, where protagonist E. R. Cortez arranges to meet a friend, only to find that Liam is missing. Teaming up with his grandfather and Charley Ann, a girl that Liam may be romantically involved with, E.R. begins the search for his friend as the flood waters in the surrounding swamplands begin to rise.
Author D M Bourgeois has crafted a superb work of suspenseful mystery and thriller elements, and readers are sure to turn page after page in the search for Liam and be very surprised by the eerie events that unfold. I really enjoyed the descriptive nature of the work, as the author spins fantastic twists on classic graveyard ghost stories, local legends, and paranormal concepts to craft their own unique elements that feel original, yet oddly nostalgic at the same time. E.R. is a fantastic central character for the action to fall upon, disbelieving at first and seemingly stalwart until the tension rises and cracks begin to show in his cool, calm warden’s demeanor. As we become more and more attached to him and his fellow adventurers, the danger in the plot begins to rise with more exciting twists and surprise reveals, amping up the tension and racing to a frighteningly good conclusion. Overall, Misguided Revenge is a highly recommended read for fans of eerie paranormal thrillers and well-penned mysteries.
