Misguided Revenge is a work of fiction in the paranormal, thriller, action, and suspense subgenres. It is best suited to the adult reading audience and was penned by author D M Bourgeois. In this chilling work of eerie thrills and ever-deepening mystery, we find ourselves at a creepy cemetery in Lafitte, Louisiana, where protagonist E. R. Cortez arranges to meet a friend, only to find that Liam is missing. Teaming up with his grandfather and Charley Ann, a girl that Liam may be romantically involved with, E.R. begins the search for his friend as the flood waters in the surrounding swamplands begin to rise.

Author D M Bourgeois has crafted a superb work of suspenseful mystery and thriller elements, and readers are sure to turn page after page in the search for Liam and be very surprised by the eerie events that unfold. I really enjoyed the descriptive nature of the work, as the author spins fantastic twists on classic graveyard ghost stories, local legends, and paranormal concepts to craft their own unique elements that feel original, yet oddly nostalgic at the same time. E.R. is a fantastic central character for the action to fall upon, disbelieving at first and seemingly stalwart until the tension rises and cracks begin to show in his cool, calm warden’s demeanor. As we become more and more attached to him and his fellow adventurers, the danger in the plot begins to rise with more exciting twists and surprise reveals, amping up the tension and racing to a frighteningly good conclusion. Overall, Misguided Revenge is a highly recommended read for fans of eerie paranormal thrillers and well-penned mysteries.

It’s an action-packed story, with each chapter leaving you wanting to know what happened next—you might just read this in one sitting. The style of writing draws you in gradually, like a spider reeling in its next victim, and the descriptions of the locations will make it seem like you are there, and you’ll feel every emotion the characters feel. The characters are relatable, real people with real-life flaws, and you’ll have an affinity for most of them. Misguided Revenge by D.M. Bourgeois is a paranormal thriller. Liam Barrios sounded anxious when he asked Evan Robert Cortez to meet him at Fleming Cemetery. E.R. found Liam’s truck at the cemetery, but there was no sign of Liam. He saw someone dragging something, and E.R. ran toward the person but fell into an open grave. E.R. bumped his head and saw a vision of a woman in a white dress who spoke to him. Waking up in his bed, E.R. could not remember the events of the previous night. When he saw the woman in a vision again, he realized there must be some truth to the local ghost stories. With the help of his grandfather Griff, and a girl Liam had just met, E.R. searched for Liam. Would they find him in time?

Misguided Revenge by D.M. Bourgeois is fast-paced and jam-packed with action. It was a roller coaster ride of fear, revenge, and ghost stories. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. The story was full of adventures, and I could not turn the pages fast enough as I had to know what would happen next. The folk tales were scary and exciting, and I wanted to learn more about them. The characters were well-developed and authentic. The villains provided suspense and were intriguing. E.R.’s attraction to Charley Ann was enthralling. It lightened the dark mood of Liam’s disappearance and the coming storm. The story was exceptionally well written and had a fitting ending.
