In Mr. Nachron's List by Mike Corbett, we learn about Ron, who is your typical everyday guy. He enjoys the fleeting pleasures life has to offer and does everything in his power to forget the pain that he feels from having lost contact with the love of his life, Lynn. Together with his friend Crystal, a beautiful bartender with an attitude that matches her looks, he strikes up a camaraderie that looks capable of surmounting any obstacle life throws at them. A seemingly fortuitous meeting with the mysterious Albert Nachron is about to test their budding friendship in ways they cannot imagine. He makes Ron an irresistible offer in return for the opportunity to be reunited with his one true love. Now all he has to do is stay out of trouble long enough to see the deal through.
Mr. Nachron's List is a science fiction adventure from Mike Corbett. The overarching storyline is based on the quirks of time travel. It can best be described as a series of uniquely interesting adventures on which the principal character embarks at the behest of the enigmatic Albert Nachron. The story is as informative as it is interesting and each chapter unravels a new mystery. I particularly enjoyed the detailed descriptions that Ron gives about the assignments he undertakes, while the combination of strategic historic events within the story is a masterstroke on the part of the author. It adds a touch of realism to the plot that's almost non-existent in modern-day works of fiction. When it comes to enterprising storytelling, this book does not disappoint.
