Kids and bedtime can be a challenge! Hailee Oman's new book My Sloth and the Very Contagious Case of the Yawns is a fun way to encourage kids to snuggle into bed and go to sleep. A young girl's sloth has suddenly contracted a case of the yawns. No matter what she does or where they go, the yawns just won't stop. She finally decides the only cure is to help her little sloth get ready for bed, which will hopefully cure the yawns. It works! Her sloth is asleep, and the yawns have disappeared. But oh no, the girl suddenly lets out a big yawn! Has she caught the yawns? Will she be able to get rid of them?
My Sloth and the Very Contagious Case of the Yawns is an imaginative bedtime story. As a former children's librarian, I have read many bedtime stories and this one is a definite winner. Hailee Oman has crafted a perfect story that parents and kids will enjoy reading before bed. Yawning is so contagious! Kids and adults will have a hard time getting through the story without yawning along. The illustrations by Gusty Awan are expressive, colorful, and full of humor. Oman's text is simple and just right for a quick read at bedtime. After a few readings, kids will be able to read it themselves and maybe help put their siblings to sleep! This is a delightful story. Be forewarned; you may be ready for bed after you read this tale!
