There are two very different stories happening at the same time in Never Say A Word by Allan Brenham. Twin sisters Claire and Megan Deveraux are the stars of the book. Claire is working at the U.S. Embassy in Paris and Megan is at a convent in Luxembourg and is in the process of becoming a nun. Dante Scordato has fallen in love with Claire and kidnapped her, thinking they will live happily ever after. Dante keeps Claire chained up and drugged. She somehow manages to escape and return to her home. Dante is not satisfied with this outcome and plans on getting her back - and his plan might just work. Megan, fearing for her sister, has come to stay with Claire until life gets back to normal. Normal, however, is a long way from happening when the girls discover that in addition to the twin brother that recently died, a fourth brother was born and died at birth. Evidence leads them to believe that he may not have died and that he is alive and well and unaware he has two sisters. As they investigate the possibilities, both girls find themselves in dangerous, life-threatening situations.

Never Say A Word is one of those WOW books that do not come around too often. Never Say A Word is everything it promises to be and so much more. I loved the twins and really did not like the bad guys (and there were several). Alan Brenham has written a brilliant thriller suspense story that will keep you up late into the night and cause you to neglect your daytime chores. The thrills never stop and it is just impossible to stop reading. Never Say A Word is a five-star plus winner and should be on the top of your reading list!

Never Say A Word is a work of fiction in the thriller, political suspense, and interpersonal drama subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience. Penned by author Alan Brenham, the story centers on Claire Deveraux, a foreign service officer stationed at the U.S. Embassy in France, who finds herself in a nightmare scenario when she's abducted during a conference in Rome. Her kidnapper, Franco Lazzari, is a wealthy and unhinged individual with a sinister obsession. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Claire's abduction is not a random act. A high-ranking official within her own embassy is implicated, and the conspiracy reaches shocking heights.

Author Alan Brenham weaves a complex plot filled with twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the end, but this novel goes beyond the typical thriller to offer something more diverse and relatable. This is down to its compelling portrayal of Claire, who is deaf, and the challenges she faces as she attempts to outwit her captors add extra complexity to her struggle. The attention to detail and realism in the portrayal of a capable hearing-impaired heroine is exceptional, making Claire a relatable and tenacious protagonist that you can’t help but root for. On top of this, the descriptive quality of the novel makes it deeply immersive and cinematic as we travel through different scenarios and atmospheres that perfectly complement the shifts of the espionage and thriller plots. Overall, if you enjoy fiction with strong female protagonists and intricate plots, Never Say A Word is a must-read that is sure to excite fans of tense thrillers from cover to cover.
