No Take Backs by Kelli Maine is a short novella in the Give and Take series. It occurs between books one and two, so it is something that you would want to read before you get on to book two. This book was extremely short, and you will be able to finish it in a little over an hour. I listened to the book in audio-book format and I didn’t even get a chance to finish my workout at the gym before it was done. That being said, for a short novella, there was a whole lot of information packed into it.
The Turtle Tear Resort is having a grand opening celebration, but for some reason Merrick is really down and Rachel can’t figure out why. Navigating intense family drama, and dealing with the tragic loss of Merrick’s companies are some of the things Rachel and Merrick have to deal with. It’s amazing to see how their relationship grows because of all the trials and tribulations. I will say that the point of view was a little odd for me. It's a kind of second person, and I wasn't used to that because I haven't read the first book in the series yet, but after a while it stopped jarring me.
There was a pretty intense cliffhanger ending, which drives me crazy, but if you have the opportunity to get your hands on book two relatively quickly after you finish No Take Backs, you will be fine. Otherwise be ready! This cliffhanger makes you want to throw the book across the room...so be prepared!
