Just about every little girl dreams of being a princess and living in a magical castle in an exotic land. Most little girls enjoy the idea of wearing a tiara, riding in a horse-drawn carriage and marrying Prince Charming. Anya is not like most little girls, but she made a promise to her father, who happens to work for his dearest friend, the King of Gallyrian. Anya prefers to be just Anya, a carefree teenager, but in Gallyrian she is Lady Tatiana, sister of Lia, the Countess of Malmont and a prestigious member of the extended royal family. While doing her best to make her father proud, Anya finds herself forced to spend time with the handsome Prince Dmitri, who is secretly as attracted to her as she is to him.
I’m No Princess Book 1: Now Presenting by Elizabeth Stevens is a delightfully written modern-day fairy tale that is certain to please girls of all ages. The main character struggles to adapt to a lifestyle for which she is ill-prepared and finds unappealing, making this a fun Pygmalion story that captures the hearts of all those hopeful romantics and closet princesses out there. Stevens’ language is fresh, her characters relatable, and the message of hope universal. The best thing about I’m No Princess Book 1 is that there is a part two, a part three, and a part four, assuring all young readers that there is a little bit of princess in all of us. I love this series!
