In her family and on the farm, Pixie the Pig is seen as shy and unique, but she loves fairies. Pixie the Pig Is a Super Unique Beast by Beth Davis allows the reader to discover that despite our individuality, we must all find ways to work together. As Pixie watches the others play, she sees how they share their experiences, which gives her the desire to be their friend and play with them. Pixie notices the differences between those on the farm and herself: she doesn’t like loud music, mixing her food, or jumping in the mud, but these dislikes are what are causing her to always be alone. Her mother saw her struggles and decided to help Pixie get out of her comfort zone and look for ways to connect with others. Despite her fears, Pixie decided to take a chance on her mother’s advice, and it worked!
Pixie the Pig Is a Super Unique Beast by Beth Davis is inspired by the life of the author, who felt and saw her uniqueness at a young age. This book is ideal for children to help them through their challenges and discomforts. As children grow, they socially see themselves as being unique or different without realizing that they are not alone because others are feeling the same way too. This book will help the reader understand that despite how they see themselves, there are some similarities that must be acknowledged and considered to create a bond with others and to avoid loneliness. It is our uniqueness and diversity, unified, that develops a more cohesive existence because we are not only accepting of others but ourselves. Beth has developed a Super Unique Beast collection of children’s books that I am sure that young readers will also enjoy!
