Plight of the Dragon: Age of the Hybrid, Book 3 is an epic urban fantasy written by Debra Kristi. Sebastian and Kyra had survived their battle with Marcus and were able to wrest Kalrapura from the fire dragon's control; however, Kyra's dragon was now harbored inside Sebastian instead of where she belongs. To add to the situation, Kyra's water dragon mother, Queen Shui, and Ryhuu, who was to be her fiance, were now at Mystic's and seemed determined to forcibly separate the two of them. The arrival of another dragon shifter, this time her fire dragon father, Bolsvck, and her intended fire dragon consort had complicated things even more, especially since Bolsvck intended to question Sebastian and then dispose of him. Kyra had lost more than her dragon in the battle with Marcus; most of her memories including those of her parents and Mystic's were gone. Kyra’s parents want her to make the choice between being a fire or a water dragon, but Kyra hasn’t been eager to make that choice. Up until her memory loss, she had seemed resolved to remain a Moorigad or hybrid dragon. Reluctantly, Kyra's parents agree with Zeke's plan to help Kyra regain her memories and Sebastian find out what he must to do to transfer Kalrapura back into her true home. Kyra does indeed retrieve her memories, but the solution to getting her dragon back will put her relationship with Sebastian in jeopardy.

Debra Kristi's epic urban fantasy, Plight of the Dragon: Age of the Hybrid, Book 3, is a masterfully plotted and exciting tale that is filled with action, battles scenes on an epic scale, and a host of paranormal shifters, reapers and demons. While I had read the first two books in this series, I found myself at a loss for the first few pages but soon found, like Kyra, that my memories of Mystic's Carnival, and the beings who inhabit or visit there, were gradually returning to me, and I became fully immersed in the story. Plight of the Dragon is not a stand-alone novel, and it really shouldn't be. This is full-fledged epic fantasy writing that cannot be compressed into a few paragraphs at the beginning of the text. It's also a marvelous coming of age tale featuring Sebastian and Kyra, two 'hybrids' whose search for their identity requires courage, sacrifice and a questor's tenacity. Plight of the Dragon: Age of the Hybrid, Book 3 is a marvelous read, and it's most highly recommended.
