Practice Makes PURPOSE: Six Spiritual Practices that Will Change Your Life and Transform Your Community by C. Paul Schroeder proposes a path that helps readers to be more human, to unlock the floodgates of joy and happiness and create a life of meaning. This author understands what it takes to create a life that stands out and that has more impact. He writes insightfully about what is intrinsically linked to the human essence like the power of compassion (with a wonderful definition: seeing through another's eyes), heartfelt listening, intentionally creating spaces for others to evolve through the subtle art of hospitality, participating, and a lot more. He reminds me a lot of the writings of Henri Nouwen, especially when he talks about things that are linked to our humanity.

What makes this book unique is the author’s ability to understand the deepest yearnings of the human heart. Proposing practical steps to develop qualities and values that transform a person from within is one of the things that make the writing invaluable and a tool for everyone. I enjoyed when he talks about setting boundaries by developing the art of gracefully saying “no”. Practice Makes PURPOSE: Six Spiritual Practices that Will Change Your Life and Transform Your Community is packed with wisdom for everyday life and tools that will allow readers to easily connect with others and their community and to create the positive influences that will have a great impact on the lives of others. Written in a style that is easy to understand and language that is fluid, this book is like an intimate conversation with the author, a conversation about some of the things that really matter and that we often take for granted. C. Paul Schroeder’s self-help book is required reading for anyone who wants to grow, meaningfully connect with others, and positively impact lives. A highly recommended read.
