An obscure fate is revealed to a skeptical policewoman during a Tarot reading in the extraordinary paranormal short story, Readings (A Story of Grace Bishop's Paranorm World Book 3) by Denise Bossarte. Sophie comes from a long line of seers and is gifted with highly developed intuition and insight. When Sophie inherits an ancient, extremely rare deck of Tarot cards, she learns she must bond with them. Unfortunately, the cards induce her into a trance, transporting her into another time or place. If she can bond with the cards, she will be able to psychically read for the most influential groups in the paranormal world. Being a Tarot reader, Sophie receives clients by word-of-mouth. Referred by one of Sophie's family members, a police officer comes to scope her out. Even though he is distrustful of the occult and prognostication, he wants to purchase a reading for his partner, Grace. Because of their skepticism, Sophie is puzzled and unsure whether to accommodate them. However, The Family, a powerful paranormal group, insists Sophie accept Grace's business and do a reading for her. What does The Family have to do with Grace? Why is it so important to know Grace's future?
Readings (A Story of Grace Bishop's Paranorm World Book 3) by Denise Bossarte is an enjoyable paranormal novella that draws the reader inside the world of the paranormal. I enjoyed the mystical aspects of the plot. The Tarot readings are intriguing and expertly done. The narrative is split into two different aspects; the remarkable Tarot cards and the readings for the police officers. Being part of a short story series, the beginning and end are left open for the previous and following episodes. It is a fascinating series that leaves the reader craving more.
