In Reaper's Rhythm, a young-adult paranormal mystery by Clare Davidson, Kim wakes up in a hospital and is told by her parents that her older sister, Charley, has committed suicide and that she blacked out after witnessing the event. But Kim remembers none of it and since her sister was so happy and vibrant only twenty minutes before the supposed suicide, Kim is determined to prove that Charley didn't kill herself. What she doesn't expect is for her journey to take her into the realms of the paranormal. It's a realm of angels and demons, corrupting power, mind-control, and secrets Kim needs to unravel quickly if she's ever going to find out what happened to her beloved sister.
Reaper's Rhythm was a very enjoyable read with a plot that clips along a a steady pace as you try to figure out the mystery before Kim does; though not so much the whodunit part of the mystery as the whys and hows of it. I also liked that though there were angelic and demonic creatures involved, they didn't follow the usual Judaic or Christian-inspired route which made things a little more unique and interesting. It also made me want to do some research on my own and find out more. Reaper's Rhythm by Clare Davidson is a fun and super-fast read that any fan of the paranormal or mysteries is sure to enjoy. Who knows? Maybe this paranormal mystery heroine will star in a sequel.
