Refined and Refreshed by Ralph Monroe III is a book of poetry, built upon the foundation of Christianity, created from the lens of the Word of God. The author has added biblical scriptures following the poems to seal them with absolute truth. As I read through some of the poems, it felt like I was reading the Book of Psalms. The author's compelling style wonderfully exhibits a seeming dialogue between man and his God. Each poem is a reflection in itself, taken from the heart and mind. The style in which the poems were delivered is appreciated for its sincerity. A few lines from "Perishing to Conquerors" touched me.

"God took us from perishing souls and made us conquerors
Once bound to sin, by faith living in victory
Hearts blinded to the gospel we thought was foolish
He shone in our hearts the light of the knowledge of His glory
Now triumphant in Christ
His light shines through us..."

This section taken out of the poem speaks volumes. To me, it shows the wonderful death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior. The fact that He chose us while we were yet sinners speaks of His agape love toward us. The author pulls out the core of the scriptures and paints a poetic expression of redemption. We were once trapped in darkness until "He shone in our hearts the light of the knowledge of His glory" - that alone is enough to make any believer shout for joy. The author's love for God is felt beyond words. His expression will connect with the spirit of readers in a profound way. The scriptures added to each poem are like icing on the cake. The feel of this book is empowering and uplifting.

This poetry book stands in a class alone because of its unique nature. Readers will walk away feeling beyond encouraged. I couldn't help but smile as I read the poems of someone who truly has the right relationship with God. His faith is seen, line by line. I recommend this book to ALL Christians who love the Lord, and those who enjoy inspirational poetry books. You will not be disappointed at all. Some of the poems may even reflect the sentiments of your heart. I speak this from a personal point of view. The author's expression spoke to me internally.
