Salvia Sorority: Final Chapter is a work of fiction in the mystery, suspense, and interpersonal drama subgenres, and is part of the Wrenn Grayson Mystery book series. It is suitable for the general adult reading audience and was penned by author Connie Chappell. We follow the exploits of archivist Wrenn Grayson, who we find navigating a summer filled with mysteries in Havens, Ohio. Investigating Madelaine Manor and its history, Wrenn unravels the story of Hollis Bronwyn Jenner, a women's rights activist shadowed by suspicious connections to World War I. Concurrently, Wrenn faces the threat of a Confederate Civil War reenactor seeking a cannon believed to be in Mayor K.C. Tallmadge's possession. Amidst historical intrigue, a skirmish within the manor arises, revealing odd occurrences and clues to an old death. Wrenn's efforts to interpret these clues lead to an intricate mystery spanning generations.
Author Connie Chappell adeptly entwines historical elements, intriguing characters, and a multi-layered mystery to craft a work that will keep fans of sleuths and suspense hooked from cover to cover. One of the features I especially enjoyed was the blending of past and present, which is skillfully written to give us snippets of information from different timelines, along with the meticulous unraveling of events, interlocked, to build the overall mystery slowly and in a most satisfying manner. The intricate plot and vivid descriptions make the book a gripping choice for those who enjoy historical mysteries with a touch of the speculative. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Salvia Sorority: Final Chapter for fans of detailed and atmospheric fiction.
