See Me by Heather Hobbs is the first volume in the Breaking The Rules series. Hannah is an introverted teenager who follows her own set of rules. Those rules are meant to keep her invisible and out of any kind of trouble. She made up the rules when she was only a kid because her father indirectly taught her that being seen is never a good thing. Hannah goes through school with good marks, and little trouble. She spends a lot of time alone, and likes it that way. But then a new boy turns up in her school: Chip. For some reason, the charming but slightly annoying boy chooses Hannah as the girl he wants to be friends with. Soon Hannah needs to learn how to cope with not being invisible any longer. But with being seen, trouble is just around the corner.

I am by no means a young adult any longer, but I immediately got hooked on the plot of See Me by Heather Hobbs. Hannah and I have a few things in common, so it was easy to connect with her and understand the way she thinks. I wanted to see how someone can find a way out of not being seen, and not wanting to be seen, without completely having to change their character. I found Hannah's story very relatable, especially because she uses writing to express her true self. Of course, having secrets written down somewhere can also lead to trouble when someone is out to bully you. Unfortunately, that is one of the experiences Hannah has to go through. She finds an unusual supporter in Chip, and together they find ways to help each other - but before things start to look up, things have to get a lot worse. I enjoyed reading this book and found the plot interesting to follow. It is not only a great book for young adults, but for all people who at some stage of their life simply did not want to be seen.
