Seven Proven Steps to Grow Closer to God by Marie Duclona is a guide for Christians who are either searching for a way or searching for a reason to strengthen their intimacy with God. This is a compact manual with seven chapters, each outlining one of Duclona's steps within three sections of the chapter itself. In the first section, a piece of biblical scripture that is relevant to the step is provided. The second section is where the author provides a single step and the reason why the step is necessary. Last, the third section provides additional relevant lines of scripture, bite-sized for comfortable memorization.
Seven Proven Steps to Grow Closer to God by Marie Duclona does an excellent job in its simplicity and directness, bypassing the more traditional, loquacious (and often less pointed) forms of written ministry for one that feels much more authentic. As a friend, sitting at your kitchen table and having a chat over coffee, Duclona offers sound and scripture-backed advice in an easy tone to get her message across. She does this rather effectively and, as a result, I can see this little gem having the impact intended on the hearts and minds of a Christian readership, bundling a big punch in a light load. If it really is true that the best things come in small packages, there's no finer proof than this book. "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path" - Psalm 119:105. Highly recommended and an easy 5 stars.
