Shadow of Hope is penned by author Molly Crowe in the fantasy, adventure, and romantic suspense subgenres. It is intended for the young adult readership. The action follows Princess Kalista in a world where the fabled Sol Defenders are the stuff of legends, but the princess hears their call. Kalista, guided by their whispers, finds herself in an arranged marriage with Captain Luke Ramsey while being drawn to a mysterious savior with emerald eyes. Lord Mahan of the Krasiv Isles seeks to exploit her power, with enigmatic enforcer Raine as her protector. As they unravel Mahan's schemes, Kalista realizes her role in fulfilling an ancient prophecy to save her people, while torn between duty and desire.

Author Molly Crowe has crafted an exhilarating fantasy journey for YA readers that draws us into Kalista's quest with emotional resonance and a powerful tension at the core of the action. The dynamic characters, particularly Kalista and Raine, are compelling and multifaceted, each with their own motivations and secrets that are wonderfully characterized in dynamic dialogue. I loved the way this speech presentation was utilized both to characterize and to move the plot along without a lot of heavy prose. Crowe's vivid descriptions and immersive world-building are another huge highlight that brings the realm to life, allowing readers to vividly envision the lush landscapes and intricate political machinations. I loved the way the atmosphere of these descriptive scenes matched the emotional mood of the action taking place. Overall, Shadow of Hope is a captivating and emotionally resonant tale that will appeal to fans of fantasy and romance alike.
