In Silly Sam The Elf by Angela Lindsey, we are introduced to an elf who not only loves his job making toys for the children of the world, but he also loves to make his fellow elves laugh and have a good time. That is how he got the nickname Silly Sam. One day he thought it would be funny to try on Santa’s red suit, but when his appearance began to change, he realized that he had put on something magical meant only for Santa. When he was caught, Santa wasn’t upset but instead told Sam that he needed his help now passing out toys to children all over the world since part of the suit's magic stayed with Sam. After their journey, Santa gives Sam an amazing gift that he’ll never forget.
I thought Silly Sam the Elf was an adorable Christmas read that put me in such a cheery mood. I love Sam’s character and how he always clowned around, but also how he loved to bring joy by making his fellow elves laugh. Santa being a forgiving boss also shows that even big mistakes can be forgiven and fixed. The illustrations are also beautifully done and fit perfectly with the storyline. Angela Lindsey has done a great job in creating a new and unique Christmas tale that is unlike any others I have come across so far. Kids will love it and so will their parents. It’s a book I would recommend this holiday season.
