Slip Stitch Slaying by Sharyn Bradford Lunn is the second book in the Cody Costin Cozy Mystery series. Cody's first mystery was quite the ordeal so no one could blame her for deciding to take a vacation by visiting her Gran's inn. She can think of no better way to relax and settle her nerves than spending quality time with her grandmother. Too bad her visit is cut short when she lands in another mystery, one that could cost Gran everything. Gran's best friend is found dead at her inn and, worse still, the police seem to think she's the one responsible. To clear Gran's name, Cody must dig deeper to find out who had the motive to commit murder so she can find the real killer and uncover the truth. But the closer she gets to answers, the closer she gets to being caught in the killer's sights.
The mystery quickly becomes highly emotional and personal with the well-being of Gran at risk, which is what drives Cody to do whatever it takes to prove her innocence. The relationship between the two of them is sweet and gives the mystery its heart. The mystery weaves suspense throughout Cody's search for the real killer, which has her uncovering secrets and rumors about her grandmother. The mystery brings Cody closer with her grandma while adding another layer to their relationship by pushing them into the vulnerability of being a suspect. Cody is a strong-willed and clever sleuth that searches for clues by using her whole being and her heart. As with any good cozy, Sharyn Bradford Lunn delivers in a lighthearted tone that creates a compelling, charming, and quirky read blending suspense and humor for a mystery that's addictive from the first page. Slip Stitch Slaying is an exciting second book in the series that finds Cody facing a new mystery that is heartfelt, charming, and endearing.
