"Solid Ground: Kentucky Moon" is a paranormal romance about two unlikely strangers that meet at odd circumstances. Lily is running away from home and gets help from a stranger in the forest. Creed is a mysterious man of a few words, but a kind heart that takes Lily back to his isolated cabin forest to work for him where they develop an unlikely friendship and bond. Creed has a secret that he wants to share with Lily as his feelings for her get deeper and more involved, but before he can gently reveal himself, something violent happens that will shatter Lily’s faith in Creed.
I highly enjoyed Cris Coursey’s writing style and simplicity in the dialogue between Creed and Lily. The dialogue felt natural and flowed very well. I liked the slow pace with which their romance blossomed, from acceptance to friendship and then to a romantic spark. There is a sweetness of tone to the whole book that I found very soothing and entertaining in a romance book, something not found in many books. The author is able to build up their romance slowly and convincingly, sparking tingles of physical attraction of realistic moments between the main characters Lily and Creed. The reader can feel their attraction as it develops in stages. It unfolds at its own pace and is not a fast-paced romance. This book was reminiscent of the hugely popular series "Twilight", so anyone who enjoyed that book will like this book, from young teenagers to adults alike.
