This book is perfect for young musicians and those who grew discouraged but may yet find their musical home. She tells of getting her strange-looking banjolele as a gift when she was a child, of getting teased for its odd looks and stilted sound. The author shares an inspiring tale of second chances and a touching love story between a girl and the unique musical instrument she calls her banjolele.
Somebody To Love by Valerie June is a vibrant account of her childhood and self-discovery. It is a remarkable tale from page one. I could hear her rich voice reading the story as I read. The style used in the book fits perfectly. Reading the book was a lot of fun, and I loved all the visuals in this one. I could not help but fall in love with Marcela Avelar's incredible illustrations! With stunning attention to detail, the art brings this masterful story to life. Their beautiful partnership leaves readers with an unforgettable account and is great for all ages. Amazing colors and a wonderful Southern flair makes for a touching reading experience. This isn't one to be missed!
