Sox is a cheerful, loving brown and white dog who wants to explore the world around him. The story of Sox and His Big Adventure by Leighshé Pillay begins with him running around the garden, where he finds a sparkling key. This is the start of the adventure, which challenges him to do things he’s never done before. He leaps over a log in the path and learns how to cross the stream by walking carefully on the stepping stones. And then in a corner of the garden, he finds a small door he’s never seen before. The sparkling key opens the door, and inside Sox finds a treasure box full of toys and surprises. Back home, safe and sound with his owner, he decides that adventures are paw-some.
Sox and His Big Adventure is a bright and cheerful story. The delightful pictures and text will encourage young children to have adventures of their own. There’s even space at the back for kids to write their own adventures. If they find a sparkling key, would they go to a castle, a secret garden, a pirate ship, or a magical forest? Full of color and excitement, this book is sure to become a favorite for read-alouds and beginning readers. Sox is based on Leighshé Pillay’s own pet, which is why his excitement and curiosity are so natural.
