In the village of Burnsville, growing a long tail was a very important step in a dragon's life. Growing the tail meant coming of age and gave a dragon the ability to breathe fire. Sparky's family was known for its long tradition of being the best fire breathers in the village and Sparky could not wait for his tail to grow so he could also follow in these footsteps. Finally, his tail grew. His excited father called the entire village to come and witness him breathe his first fire. With the whole village watching, Sparky took a deep breath, but to his disappointment and total embarrassment, no fire came out. However, he soon discovered that his unique difference was going to be the only thing that would save his entire village.
Sparky by M.D. Hicken is a fun and easy to understand children's story. M.D. Hicken put together a unique story that provides the perfect platform to introduce children to the world of dragons and their features and characteristics without any of the usual terrifying dragon tales. Sparky is a cute way to teach kids about important life elements, such as the fact that being different from others is not a bad thing but instead it makes one special. It also teaches the importance of accepting ourselves the way we are instead of wanting to be like others. The book is so vibrantly illustrated that it will capture any kid's attention and encourage them to continue reading the story as they take in the important messages. The writing style is easy for children to comprehend.
