Spotlight by Charles Besondy follows a Christian rock band whose comeback places it in the path of a global political takeover. After a financial collapse, United Nations leader Lucky Zebul uses the new world currency to pressure nations into surrendering control to him, with America facing a final vote that could put its presidency under his authority. DelivRus becomes a threat because its music is turning public attention back toward faith before that vote. Charley Austin, a disgraced musician trying to lead again, must rebuild the band with Mia Johansen, whose new songs place her in the public eye. As their partnership begins to fracture, a hidden servant of Zebul uses pride, fame, and a manipulated teenage gamer to stop their Washington, D.C. concert before the music reaches the nation.
Charles Besondy’s Spotlight is a brilliant, fast-paced thriller loaded with suspense, turning a Christian rock concert in Washington into a matter beyond entertainment. DelivRus is not merely performing songs; its music is reaching people before a national vote that a global ruler needs to win. Besondy’s finest character work is Mia, whose music helps revive DelivRus while fame tests her heart. The author makes sure we see that her faith must answer both. Lucky Zebul is absolutely diabolical, giving him a worldly face and a supernatural purpose. The Christian identity is central, with prayer, baptisms, and spiritual attacks, and with DelivRus’s music treated as worship that can turn public hearts toward Jesus. Readers who enjoy American Christian supernatural thrillers about music, faith, temptation, and political power will love this. Very highly recommended.
