Steamed and Steamy: Recipes from the Steampunk World of Industralia by Lori Alden Holuta is a cookbook that combines excerpts from novels written by the author. The anecdotes are about food and cooking. Not all the recipes are written in traditional format. Some of the recipes are presented in a narrative form. I liked that. Many of the recipes contain a title, ingredients, and instructions. Pictures here and there liven up the book and are entertaining. Lori included some well-known meals as well as new or lesser-known ones. There are thirty-two recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. The rest include recipes for desserts, drinks, jams, and jelly. Lori includes something for everyone, from the sweet-toothed to the savory lovers and those who cannot go without cheese.

I was excited to read Steamed and Steamy by Lori Alden Holuta. The contents page promised an exciting line-up of recipes. I love the way the book is presented with bits from other stories. Many of the recipes looked exciting to try. Lori made some traditional meals look fun and easy to prepare. One of my favorite recipes is the Crispity Crusty Brown Bread. Many years ago, I used to make bread, but stopped. The brown bread recipe resembled the easy recipe that I was taught back then. The book has inspired me to bake bread again. Amateurs will love the Crispy Bacon for a Crew and the Sterling’s Favorite Tuna Melt. There is even a recipe for ketchup that does not need any cooking.
