Swipe Write: A Sometimes Hilarious, Sometimes Sad, Always Brutally Honest Account of 20 Online Dates with 20 Different Men, by Lindsay Taylor Dellinger, is a brave, fresh take for fans of dating/relationship books. This enlightening, sometimes LOL-funny memoir lets you take a peek behind the online dating curtain. Whether you're new to swiping right, or an old pro, you will find this book to be engrossing and entertaining. Sit back, relax, and take a ride with Dellinger as she guides you through her obstacle course of 20 online dates with 20 different men, a prescription given by her hairdresser. Some of the guys were irresistible, and others were ridiculous, but all of them rolled together made for growing experiences in the world of dating. This book could double as a self-help guide or cautionary tale, but first, enjoy it for enjoyment's sake.
With 20 guys and 20 dates, you may learn more about yourself than you do the guys. Each anecdote is an adventure unto itself, and if you've ever jumped into the online dating pool, you just may see yourself reflected in it. Does she find Mr. Right this way? Are there any success stories? It takes guts to put your dating life out there for the world to read, especially the dates that don't go so well, so this book gives readers a chance to tag along with the author on her rendezvous. Whether your dating stories are good or bad, you will relate to Dellinger's triumphs and tragedies. You've probably been there, done that. Bored on a Saturday night and looking for a good man, or just a good time, and the next thing you know, you're swiping right. Relive your excitement, anticipation, worry, thrills, and spills through these pages. Let's face it. There's a lot to laugh at when it comes to the dating scene, but sometimes it isn't funny until you take a look back. Jump into the dating sea, where you'll find fun, frolic, and some nuggets of wisdom.
What I like best is the author's storytelling style--she's a natural, gifted writer, and her flair and skill for setting up each one are really engaging and personal. You feel like you're right there with her as she's talking to the guys and getting to know them. Her humor is also quite natural, evident in almost every scene, which is one of the most appealing things about the stories. And please, brace yourself for some heartbreaking moments she recalls from her youth, which in a way are the underpinnings for how she interacts and responds to men, dating, and relationships. Basically, Swipe Write by Lindsay Taylor Dellinger is a tell-all dating memoir you can't put down and would make an excellent situation comedy.
