Sworn Shift is the third book in The Wolves of Rock Falls series by AJ Skelly. Raven Rivers is a 17-year-old werewolf who is marked by her mate, Bowen, mere seconds after he'd tried to kill Raven's brother, Cade. She'd had no idea that her new mate had been under his evil father's thrall. When Kyp takes over as Alpha of Victor Atwood's pack, some members are banished due to their pure evil natures. Raven remains terrified of her new mate, as the memory of seeing him try to kill her brother refuses to leave her mind. Over time, Raven and Bowen begin to learn the real intent behind the skin and fur of the other and soon fall in love. Raven's best friends at Rock Falls High, Skylar and Aria, fall out with her, making her school year one Raven wishes she could forget. The prom reveals the true culprits behind mysterious murders near Rock Falls, which almost cost many lives within the three packs.
I very much enjoyed this third installment of The Wolves of Rock Falls. Throughout the book, questions are posed to the reader about who or what to believe after the cliffhanger leading to the death of Victor Atwood. With a new pack becoming connected to two others, it is vital to know who is behind the ill-intentioned acts toward Raven and Bowen, and why. When one partner in a relationship feels pure terror of the other, the assumption would be to flee, but with a third party involved - the wolf within - the decision becomes quite difficult. One party listens to the rumors that float around, while the other listens to their heart. The emotions I felt while reading Sworn Shift were quite varied and the shock and awe factor was off the charts. That being said, I wholeheartedly recommend Sworn Shift to all fans of the paranormal genre who are over the age of 15. It is easy to see why AJ Skelly's fans are so loyal to The Wolves of Rock Falls in every way.
