The Alienated Mother by Jenna Brooks is a helpful tool for all those women who are looking to rebuild their lives after getting out of bad and abusive relationships. The book is not only about rebuilding life and surviving abuse, but also about handling emotions which can vary from exhilaration to panic and residual anger and guilt. The author also speaks about Maternal Alienation Syndrome (MAS) where children who grow up in abusive homes tend to neglect their mothers, leaving the mothers frustrated. The book gives insights into the kind of hell many mothers survive and the contemptuous attitude toward these women. The book helps all those mothers take back their strength and discover themselves.

The author speaks about a relevant topic that is prevalent in the society we live in and it helps them to meet the problems head-on, instead of being ashamed of what they are going through. The gamut of emotions - pain, shame, fear, loneliness, and anger - is discussed, which helps all those mothers to look into themselves and perceive where change should happen for them to embrace freedom and keep their minds and hearts open.

The idea of keeping a journal, as the book suggests, is good because it is not only a reference, but is also helpful to remember the road one traveled before becoming strong and wise. The book is encouraging and uplifting to all those mothers who are trying to overcome abuse and manage their emotions by channeling them into good deeds.
