The Artorian Chronicles by Nicholas Mrvos is an epic science fiction adventure about mankind’s struggle to survive on a planet far from Earth. The story begins with Dr. Alyssa Artoria and her daughter Liora leading a spaceship full of colonists to establish a colony on a faraway planet. Landing is the easy part. Once they are on the planet, all kinds of difficulties arise. Through the brave leadership of Alyssa and Liora, they survive most challenges, but then a new threat arises from a sister human colony on a nearby planet. Soon, their paradise is turned into a war zone, and Artoria’s leaders must find a way to keep hope alive in the hearts of the Artorian people.
The Artorian Chronicles begins as a simple story about brave colonists starting over on a new planet. Early in the book, however, the narrative shifts to the next generation of colonists who are embroiled in the midst of a bitter war. Planets raining down fire upon one another, ending the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocents in the process. This is where the book shines. The dramatic language used by Nicholas Mrvos to describe these brutal scenes through the eyes of the world leaders is perfect for drawing the reader in. The story contains several twists and turns that kept me guessing about what would happen next. The science sounds believable, and the action comes non-stop, keeping the reader glued to the pages. I recommend The Artorian Chronicles to fans of military space operas that include brave leaders battling against evil tyrants.
