The Band 4: The Air We Breathe by Marguerite Nardone Gruen is the story of two people who meet by chance and then change each other's lives. Chase and Marguerite meet at a coffee shop one night and their lives change. Neither of them is looking for love, but when they find each other, they refuse to let the other go. Marguerite is looking to move away from the shadow of her overbearing parents. Moving away from home was the best decision she ever made and now all she has to do is look for a purpose in life. Chase, on the other hand, is unable to decide if he should continue the life of a famous musician. The two are at a crossroads in their personal lives and things are difficult, but as long as they have each other, everything is all right.
The Band 4: The Air We Breathe is such an easy novel to read. Chase and Marguerite are two very real and believable characters. Their story is beautiful and incredibly well written. You can see little traces of yourself in Marguerite and how she tries to make better decisions for herself. The chemistry between Chase and Marguerite is off the charts. The two of them are well-developed characters, their background stories are solid and add more to the plot. The tension between them is palpable from the beginning and Marguerite Nardone Gruen capitalized on it well. The descriptions and the setting made this book for me. I loved the flirty banter between these two and how passionate they are about each other. This was a wonderful surprise and the perfect novel to read on a rainy day.
