Author Biography

Jim Pugmire was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, where his imagination grew up among the evergreen trees and clear mountain lakes. Though his employment planted him firmly in the world of statistics and semiconductors, he never really lost his interest in exploring new places in his mind. Over the course of two decades, imagination progressed into a hobby, which in turn became his Quinn Hawk series of books. He now lives in Utah with his wife and five children.

Fans of action and adventure tales will enjoy reading The Bishop of Canton by Jim Pugmire. Quinn Hawk’s happy life is shattered when his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Eastcastle, are lost at sea. Uncle Renard becomes the new Duke and Quinn’s life takes a drastic downward turn. His education suffers and the Duke is convinced Quinn has learning disabilities. Quinn and his friend Alexander find the Bishop of Canton, beaten and dying on the roadside. He confesses that Quinn’s parents were murdered and leaves a clue to the evidence. This shocks the confused teen, but his uncle tells him the information is false. Quinn is determined to get to the truth, while others will kill to keep their involvement hidden. Who is Rowan, the mysterious ranger who appears when least expected? Quinn begins to wonder if those closest to him can even be trusted as he searches for the evidence.

Jim Pugmire spun a good tale which takes place in medieval times. The Bishop of Canton is the first book in the Quinn Hawk Series. It moved at a steady pace with an intriguing plot that kept me guessing who the real villains were. One of the things I found impressive was the creative way each character was introduced as the events occurred. The plot was original for this specific era, and the characters had interesting personalities. Quinn is a lovable teen who gradually displays another side of him no one knew existed. I cannot wait to read the sequel soon.
