Three sisters woke up cheerful and excited about the day they had been waiting for in a la-la land called Harmony. Angel Scarlett, Fairy Cora, and Princess Daphne were called the Bobos Babes, and each had charm and powers. The anticipated event of the day was Rob the Bobcat’s birthday party, the biggest and best party in the land, and everyone was invited, even the rude ones. Rob’s wife, a sweet field mouse named Mary Kay, organized this party. The party is bubbly and fun until Rob begins to weep silently. What could possibly be the problem? Can the magical sisters save the day? Find out in The Bobcat Birthday Party by Karen M. Bobos.
This story was rich in characters, colors, and lessons. The characters were an interesting blend of humans and different animals with varying personalities, and I liked all of them. In addition to the interesting words and characters, the story was embellished with beautiful, vivid illustrations by Brittany Roberson. This narrative also contained moral and vocabulary lessons. I loved Mary Kay and the Babes’ kind and optimistic natures; their optimism had rubbed off on me by the time I finished reading. And regarding the vocabulary lessons, the narrative was impressive, with a glossary and a “did you know” section for explaining unusual words and terms. Overall, I enjoyed The Bobcat Birthday Party: Adventures in Harmony by Karen M. Bobos and gladly recommend it to young readers.
