The Cauldron of Anastasis is the fifth book in William P. Blake III’s The Blood and the Seed series. The story weaves sixty years of occult mystery into one epic showdown. The story opens in 1930s Bucharest, where the immortal sorceress Morgaine Lefey evades the Nazis. She has survived centuries by using the magic of corporal possession, finding hosts over the years and taking on different names. The story follows her quest for mystical relics, such as a golden pedestal, the Saqqara Ruby, and Solomon's ring. Her schemes eventually collide with a band of heroes in 1994 in Murklond, Rhode Island. They are detectives Bill and Michael Paladyn, reporter Charles Kraft, Linda Crone, and Clara Crenshaw. They uncover a plot to open a Halloween Bridge and allow the Underworld to spill into the earth. To save the world, a journey through the portal itself must be undertaken, one that involves sacrifice, love, and a ring forged from the five sacred metals.

William P. Blake III’s love for Universal Monster mythology, Kolchak, and Lovecraft shines on every page. The worldbuilding weaves threads of mythology, Arthurian legends, Nazi occultism, the Book of Enoch, and noir detective tradition into one chilling tapestry. The mystery surrounding the death of Clara's father opens a thread in the story that keeps you reading and following her arc; Louise shows an unusual devotion to Clute Myrtar, a resurrected person. The detectives are complex characters with a messy past. The pacing is deliberate and filled with detail, a clever meld of magic with legend. You will relish the sudden, unexpected bursts of action, scenes with werewolves, and the exhilarating showdown. Monsters and unforgettable characters populate a story that brilliantly explores family, faith, and love. The Cauldron of Anastasis bubbles with dark delights.
