The Dark Eve: The Golden Catacombs by T. K. Thompson is the third book in the Dark Eve series, following the adventures of Captain Acantha, a ship's captain who has been cursed by a witch. She is searching for a way to get rid of it and after speaking with a fortune teller, she is directed to the Golden Catacombs where a lost treasure lies, and Acantha may finally find some answers. But those answers lead to more trouble, leaving Acantha fighting to keep herself and her family alive. Will she succeed in lifting the curse?
T. K. Thompson has written an entertaining book with The Dark Eve: The Golden Catacombs. While I have not read the first books in the series, the author included enough information so that I could follow the story. There is a real mix of fantasy, magic, and pirates with plenty of action. The story moved at a fast pace and I enjoyed the action scenes. The author has done a great job when it comes to describing her world and showing the audience how it works. Acantha is an intriguing character who has been through a lot in her life, more than most. The curse was interesting in how it affected her and how her journey is turned upside down as she attempts to navigate her past and her present. I think this would appeal to epic and high fantasy fans. I would definitely recommend this book.
