The Deadly Samaritan is a psychological thriller by Michael L. Geczi. Grieving the loss of his wife and daughter, ex-TV producer and writer Drew McLogan leaves his job and reaches out to his long-time friend Stan Kaminsky, the Chief of Police at Morristown, New Jersey. But tragedy strikes once again when Kaminsky dies of a heart attack after asking Drew to look into his latest case. A woman named Diane Flatley was stabbed under the armpit with surgical scissors. As McLogan delves deeper into the investigation, he comes across a new police chief, placed by an influential reverend, who refuses to cooperate. Meanwhile, two more victims have sprung up in different cities, both stabbed similarly. In his bid to solve this peculiar case, McLogan will inadvertently put himself and someone he cares about in grave danger.

Michael L. Geczi masterfully builds suspense and infuses a sense of tension and intrigue into the pages to create a riveting narrative that makes it hard to put the book down. A tantalizing murder mystery thriller from beginning to end, The Deadly Samaritan will have you biting your nails in anticipation of what's to come with each page turned. Geczi's plotting is intricate, at times feeling like a jigsaw puzzle with the pieces coming together to fit into a larger whole toward the end. Every character is well-fleshed-out, with little backstories that add layers to their personalities. This is one of the best books I've read this year, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
