The Devil and the Dreamer: Lies and Legends 2 by Merethe Walther is the second book in the series featuring Helena Birch, a private detective with a tragic past. She recently dealt with a strange cult who kidnapped her. Now free, she still has nightmares over what happened as her girlfriend Iris tries to help her through it. When she is pulled into another case to help find a woman's missing boyfriend, she soon uncovers more than she bargained for including magic and demons. Helena will have to dig deep if she is going to find the strength to take on these new foes. The story builds to a thrilling conclusion with plenty of twists and turns.
Merethe Walther has written an exciting story with The Devil and the Dreamer: Lies and Legends 2. A good mix of the paranormal and thriller elements kept me reading. I haven't read the first book in the series, but the author fills the reader in quickly on what came before, so I understood what was happening. I would read the first book and more in the series if there are any more books to come. Helena is a great character - well written and with an intriguing history. She has been through a lot, but she still works hard to help others as a private investigator. I liked her relationship with Iris; they make a good fit. I loved the paranormal side of the story. I think paranormal fantasy fans would love this series. I would definitely recommend it.
