The Devil's Trident by George P. Norris is an action-packed drama that will keep you hooked until the end. The story follows Michael Keough, a former Navy SEAL and retired NYPD detective, as he becomes involved in a dangerous situation. Divorced and almost an alcoholic, Michael gets a rude awakening when one of his old partners is gunned down in front of his home. Michael has an inkling those bullets were meant for him, but he cannot be sure. First Grade Detective Rocco Locatelli is assigned the case to find out what happened that night. The two join forces to look for the culprit, only to find that many of Michael’s old Navy SEAL fellows are dying, and it looks as if Michael is at the center of it all. Who is the killer and what does he want from Michael? Can Rocco and Michael figure it out before it is too late?

I love a story that opens with action and sustains the same pace until the end. We get a glimpse of what Michael went through during his time as a Navy SEAL, and then the action begins with the adrenaline-inducing scene involving Cuccio. I loved how Rocco and Michael interacted with each other. There is a lot of respect, but also a tiny bit of competitiveness that they both relish. The narrative is impressive and the pace is perfect to make sure readers are invested but not overwhelmed. George P. Norris did a great job of creating an immersive story with two very strong characters. I can see Michael and Rocco joining hands and solving cases in future novels. They are well-rounded, exceptionally crafted, and very human, which is everything you wish characters to be. I highly recommend The Devil's Trident!
