When Cyrus Darian saves Brent's life, he has no idea how his actions will affect his own life. Brent unexpectedly dies, and Cyrus is left to inform Brent's commune members of his passing. Cyrus receives a lukewarm welcome at Reckoning Grove, and some residents are even hostile. Cyrus, driven by his medical background, attempts to identify other group members with symptoms similar to Brent's. He decides to stay a while at Reckoning Grove and experience their unique lifestyle. When another member of the group dies, the urgency to find out what is going on increases. Are the conspiracy theorists in the commune looking in the wrong place? Could someone in their midst be responsible? The Doctor's Reckoning by Arsheeya Mashaw and Ari Mashaw is a thrilling mystery with a fresh approach to the genre.

Arsheeya Mashaw and Ari Mashaw have written a fast-paced, tension-filled mystery. The main character's backstory and history are shared through flashbacks and conversation. Among the many themes the authors touch on is the theme of seeking redemption. The novel also focuses on preconceptions and prejudice. People tend to make assumptions about others without getting to know them or their situation. The commune offers a space for people who want to disconnect and live in peace, involving the theme of trust. When different people live together as a family, how do you know you can really trust them? How do you protect yourself when you don't even know what you have to protect yourself from? The Doctor's Reckoning stands out not just for its mystery. Cyrus is nothing like the typical Reacher-style hero, yet he's just as compelling—resourceful, flawed, and undeniably human. It's a smart, engaging story and a promising start to a series with its own distinct voice.

Brent had fallen onto a tree limb, breaking his ribs and developing tension pneumothorax. Luckily, Cyrus was camping nearby. Using his medical background, he saves Brent's life using available resources and takes him to a nearby hospital where Brent is already known. At the hospital, Brent is stabilized, but a sudden complication arises, which causes Brent to succumb. Cyrus is concerned about the other symptoms Brent had complained about that had nothing to do with his injuries, but the attending doctor dismisses his concerns. Cyrus is also tasked with returning Brent's truck to Reckoning Grove, a commune founded by Kevin Daugherty. Most of the people in the community are good to Cyrus, and he wants to get to the bottom of the strange symptoms ailing the members of the commune. How will things turn out in The Doctor's Reckoning by Arsheeya Mashaw and Ari Mashaw as Cyrus finds out more about the community and the prejudice it faces?

The Doctor's Reckoning by Arsheeya Mashaw and Ari Mashaw is an engaging read, and once I started, I couldn't put it down. As a medic, it reminded me of my rural health experience and how we had to deal with limited resources and conditions that are rarely seen in urban populations. I loved the emphasis on medical ethics and patients’ rights, especially autonomy. The characters were well-developed, and the plot flowed seamlessly, which ensured no room for confusion. This thought-provoking work also covers other themes like selflessness and working toward the common good that will resonate with many readers. The reader will also appreciate the amazing narrative, which adds to the overall beauty of the work. This is a good book, and I look forward to reading something else by Arsheeya Mashaw and Ari Mashaw.

In The Doctor's Reckoning by Arsheeya Mashaw and Ari Mashaw, a patient of Cyrus Darian died, and her son threatened to harm Cyrus's wife and children if he did not leave town. While hiking, Cyrus helped Brent and took him to the hospital, where Brent later died. But something was suspicious about Brent’s symptoms, so Cyrus joined Brent’s commune to see if there were others with similar symptoms. Cyrus told himself it could be just a simple infection or something wrong with the food. Cyrus soon realized that there was more going on when he was threatened. It became clear to Cyrus that someone in the commune was desperate to protect a secret. Could Cyrus find the person behind everything before someone else dies?

The Doctor's Reckoning by Arsheeya Mashaw and Ari Mashaw was fast-paced and full of action. Themes of secrets, death, danger, and trust were woven through the plot. I was hooked from the beginning with the action that started on the first page. The action never stopped, but the pace left me enough time to process every event properly. The twists and turns kept me in suspense, and I could not turn the pages fast enough. I had to know what would happen next, and I could not put the book down. The characters were realistic and relatable. The people in the commune had a hard time trusting Cyrus. The book was brilliantly written and had me hooked from the first page until the end. The conclusion was excellent and different from what I expected. I did not see it coming, and there was no way that I could have predicted it.
